Are there storm windows? Yes
Is the residence warm enough? Yes
Is it hard to regulate the heat?
(For example, does the thermostat work? Do you have to open windows in the winter?): Yes

Comments on any of the above (temperature):
Landlord has timed temperature control on the thermostat. They are very responsive to requests for change though.

Relationship With Landlord

Have you observed on the part of the landlord/landlady discrimination on the basis of sex, race, religion, sexual orientation, etc.? No

Is the landlord/landlady willing to make repairs? If yes, comment on how promptly (below): Yes

Have you had any disagreements with your landlord/landlady concerning who has the responsibility for making the repairs? No

Do you expect to have any problems getting your security deposit returned? If yes, why? (Explain below.): No

Have you had any major disagreements with your landlord/landlady? (Explain below.): No

If yes, have you taken any legal action concerning the disagreement? (Explain below.): No

Explanations and comments:
New Landlords, but very responsive to requests. Our back door broke (poor design) and they fixed it quickly. We've had a small problem with them not realizeing that the base of our stair-case is *in* our apartment, but the one time we spoke with them about it they apologized profusely.

The landlords live down stairs, so there is a no-loud-parties stipulation in the lease. If you like to have dance parties/ get noisily drunk a lot this is probably not the house for you; it is far too small to have anything more than a small party in.

The one problem is the location of the laundry: It's in the landlord's mud room, and you have to ask them to leave it unlocked to gain access. It's annoying to have to ask, but it's free...

Neighborhood & Location
Are your neighbors towns-people, students, or a mix? Townspeople
For whom is the noise level appropriate? School children
Problems with location? None of the above

Comments on the neighborhood:
It is a hefty walk to town (Three rather long blocks to Tappan Square) but not egregiously so unless it's icy out. Having a bike is recommended. We're right across the street from an elementary school, and even have a crossing guard on the corner during the school year. The neighboorhood is kind of dark but extremely safe at night.
