Oberlin Endowment Suffers in Floundering U.S. Economy

Oberlin College's endowment, which stood at $640 million at the end of September, is down 13.97 percent from $744 million as of June 30. Continuing declines on Wall Street -- the Dow Jones, Standard & Poor and the Nasdaq indexes slid about 5 to 7 percent on Wednesday -- are taking a toll on Oberlin's investments.

East College Street Project Ready to Break Ground

After three and a half years of planning, three Oberlin College graduates are finally seeing their dream realized. Their corporation, Sustainability Community Associates, is beginning work on its community development project on East College Street.

The English Channel, performed in Little Theater from November 12 to 16, offered a unique answer to the question: Who was Shakespeare? For English Channel playwright Robert Brustein, Shakespeare was a poet and writer who was well-known in his own right, but lived under the shadow of his close friend, theater great Christopher Marlowe.
