Teaching Resources
Assessment
and Evaluation: Do you want to know how your class is going? Do
you want to know what changes to make to improve your teaching? Do you
want to know how to make sense of your student evaluations? Does your
department want to improve the student evaluation form? The assessment
resources page will give you some ideas.
Faculty
Corner: Do you have a great way to do mid-term assessement? To get a
classroom discussion going? To handle a difficult topic? The faculty
corner is a place to post your thoughts, ideas, or resources related
to teaching. E-mail me your original work at patty.dewinstanley@oberlin.edu
and I will be happy to post it to the faculty corner.
A
study skills tutorial for your students. Have
you ever been told by a student who was disappointed in his or her performance
on your exam, "but I studied so hard"? If you have, you might want to
take a look at this tutorial. It is written in what I hope is an informal
and friendly manner. I've tried to be humorous (I hope that you and
your students don't find it too corny). The target audience is first
year students, or any students having trouble with their studies.
Grading
Learning
Styles. This is a link to Solomon and Felder's learning-styles questionnaire.
You may wish to use the questionnaire in your courses to give your students
information about their particular learning styles. Also, the leaning-styles
area contains a summary of the latest research on learning styles with
