Who We Are

Mission:

• To minimize material waste in the form of food, packaging, and other consumables in the dining halls
• To ensure that as much of the waste produced by the dining halls is recycled as possible, and minimize the impact of this waste on the environment
• To educate dining service employees (and management) on being environmentally sound
• To enforce respect for the environment, and make suggestions for future improvement
• To educate students on the environmental initiatives of the dining halls, get student input on improving the system, and foster a community in which students cooperate with the dining halls to minimize waste
  
  Oberlin and Beyond:
• To reduce pollution, and energy use, while improving the economy and the local social system through the use of local organic foods, and fare trade foods

Bios

Alumni
	Adriane Dellorco ('03) is an Environmental Studies major with a Spanish minor from Los Angeles. Adriane is the longest serving CDS Recycler for the past 3 years. She came on board to develop a local foods program for CDS and is very happy with its development. When she's not busy promoting local foods, Adriane performs and teaches belly dance.
	Victoria Gershik '03. Victoria Gershik is a senior Environmental Studies major. She became a CDS recycler her junior year and only now at her final round does she feel equipped to fight the dangers of the looming environmental subordination. On the bright side, she has finally come to terms with the idea that she is a tree hugger, an idealist love bunny, and a maniac on the green front. She's been spotted behind Dascomb dumpsters muttering angry banter about misplaced recyclables. She gets feverish thinking about all the things that need to get done but she still has time to have crushes on all the CDS recyclers, not to mention she's seen Adriane Dellorco '03 belly dance.
