Sick Trays and
Get Well To-Go Bags

Banner promoting the takeout container

With the increasing number of sicknesses as the weather turns cold, here are a few options to obtain CDS meals through a friend/"buddy".

CDS Carry-Out Sick Trays

Carry-Out Sick Trays are provided for students participating in the CDS meal plan who wish to have hot food in their residence while they are recovering.

Sick trays may be obtained from Dascomb or Stevenson. Although Stevenson is an all-you-care-to-eat facility and not a take-out facility, we recognize that there are times that students need tender care and have made an exception for sick trays.

To obtain a "Carry Out Sick Tray," a friend/"buddy" presents the line checker with two OCID cards (one for the student picking up the sick tray and one for the ill student).

  • The line checker will then distribute a sick tray slip, which is presented to the dining hall manager to obtain the carry out sick container. The friend prepares the "Carry Out Sick Tray" and takes it to go.

  • The name of the friend and of the sick person are recorded on the log.

OSCA Diners Carry-Out Sick Trays
Similar to the CDS Sick Tray option, OSCA diners can request that a friend/"buddy" pick up food at their Co-op and bring it back to their residence hall room.

Wilder "Get Well To Go" Food Bags

"Get Well To-Go" Food Bags are provided for students participating in CDS or OSCA who wish to prepare food in their residence while they are recovering.

CDS or OSCA students:
If a student is ill, they can either notify their RA or HLEC, who would notify their RD who will place their name on the "Registered List" or, they can register on-line via the Student Health Services website at www.oberlin.edu/health and complete the "Student Reporting Illness Form."

First, register with your RD/RA to be placed on the eligibility list for "Get Well To Go" Food Bags.

  • To obtain a "Get Well To Go" Bag, a friend/"buddy" contacts the Wilder manager

  • The name of the friend and of the sick person are recorded on the log and the bag is distributed
