Winter Term offers a unique opportunity for Oberlin students to participate in internships. Each January, a strong network of alumni and friends of Oberlin hosts more than 100 internship opportunities in a variety of fields. Students from all class years in the Conservatory of Music and the College of Arts and Sciences are welcome to apply. The Office of Career Services coordinates and sponsors the many challenging and exciting Winter Term internships offered at sites across the country, and will make these internship postings available to students beginning in October.

Reasons to Apply for a Winter Term Internship:

  • Get a firsthand look at a field of interest
  • Apply your liberal arts skills in a real-world environment under the supervision of an internship supervisor
  • Gather information to help you in your career decision-making process
  • Gain experience that will greatly strengthen your future job, internship, graduate school and fellowship applications

Notice for First Year Students Studying on F-1 Visas:

Employment benefits (CPT) are not available until you have completed one full academic year (two semesters) of study. Unfortunately, this means that you are not eligible to apply for a Winter Term internship during your first year of study. You will, however, be eligible to apply for CPT for a summer job or internship and for Winter Term internships in future years.
