Introduction | Regional Interview Days | On-Campus Recruiting (OCR)
On-campus recruiting refers to interviews, information sessions, information tables that occur on the Oberlin College campus, as well as job postings in ObieOpps.
Employers may set up an info table in Wilder Student Union, hold an info session there, and/or hold interviews in The Career Center. For the most detailed information about the employers coming to campus, deadlines and schedules, please go to the calendar on our website. We also publicize on-campus events in our Senior Bulletin email.
Job postings are always listed in ObieOpps. ObieOpps is our online, comprehensive recruiting management system. By logging into ObieOpps, you are able to search for jobs, internships and employers that might interest you. You may apply for jobs via the ObieOpps system by uploading and submitting your resume, cover letter, etc. ObieOpps is also the place you will sign up for most on-campus interviews. To login for the first time, use your full oberlin email as your username and "obie"T# (include T) as your password. Pay special attention to the deadline dates, particularly for on-campus employers. Often the deadline to submit your resume is 1-2 weeks in advance of the on-campus interview. If you have questions about ObieOpps, please contact our office.
Pay careful attention to the types of materials that employers require. Most require a resume and cover letter, however you may be asked to submit a writing sample, transcript, portfolio, and/or complete an application. Be sure to meet with a career advisor in advance to review and critique your materials.
Deadlines for material submissions are firm. Most employers choose to prescreen materials; therefore, schedules are not flexible. If you miss a deadline and still wish to submit your materials, you may send them independently. All deadlines are outlined on our homepage. If you have questions, please contact a career advisor.
Students who fail to appear for a scheduled interview will forfeit future interviewing privileges. Canceling a scheduled on-campus interview is only permitted in case of an emergency. Please keep this in mind when scheduling your interviews. If you are a "no-show," you will lose your on-campus interviewing privileges.
