Carnegie Hall presents their 2006-2007 Professional Training Workshops with Yo Yo Ma for strings and percussion (application deadline May 10, 2006), Steve Reich for winds, strings, keyboard, and percussion (deadline June 15, 2006), Osvaldo Golijov/Dawn Upshaw for composers and singers (deadline July 31, 2006), Helmuth Rilling for vocalists (deadline June 30, 2006), Paquito DŐRivera for latin jazz (deadline December 1, 2006), the Kronos Quartet for string quartets (deadline January 5, 2006), and the Emerson String Quartet for string quartets (deadline Febrary 5, 2007). Performance JOBS:

Sierra Music Academy is an organization in the Sacramento, CA area. They are looking for teachers/chamber musicians. Applicants are expected to have their BachelorŐs Degree but MasterŐs is preferred. Once hired, you would be expected to travel to the studentŐs house to teach, but also be a part of a faculty chamber group that is expected to be well known in the area. The Helena Symphony (Helena, MT) announces an opening for Concertmaster/Principle Violin I. Season is from September 2006-May 2007. 11 concerts and 4-6 rehearsals before each concert with $100/service at 60-70 services/year. Applications will be accepted until May 30, 2006 and auditions/interviews will be held in June 2006. The Young Eight will be holding auditions for an available violin position. The auditions will take place on Saturday, May 13, 2006, at the Bloomingdale School Of Music in New York, NY. Applicants interested in auditioning should possess an exceptional musical skill and high performance level in the field of chamber music. Applicants should have some experience teaching and participating in volunteer or residency music programs. In addition, applicants must be flexible with their schedules to tour, perform and meet frequently with members of The Young Eight. Applicants having a strong sense of organization, team leadership or other general business skills are strongly encouraged to apply. Applicants must be of African American descent, be enrolled or have graduated from a music conservatory or university in the United States, be between the ages of eighteen and thirty-two years old and be available for the audition and interview on the scheduled day. Fellowships:

The Sullivan Foundation seeks exceptionally talented young singers who are taking first steps in professional careers. Applicants must be in the early stages of their careers, and have completed their academic training. They should have sung at least one engagement with a known opera company, symphony orchestra, or other organization utilizing full orchestral accompaniment, and must submit a copy of a contract for a professional engagement with full orchestra following the November auditions. If you are eligible and wish to audition for the foundation, please send an email with your name, mailing address, and phone number to: applications@sullivanfoundation.org. Completed applications must be received by September 12, 2006. The 2006 auditions will be held in New York on November 6, 7, and 8.

The Paul & Daisy Soros Fellowships for New Americans. Support for thirty individuals for graduate study in the US. The Fellowship provides $20,000 maintenance and half tuition wherever the Fellow attends. Must be either holders of Green Cards, naturalized citizens, or children of two naturalized citizen parents.
