Spare Shooting Workshop

Mark your calendars! Saturday, September 20 at 12:30pm, the College Lanes coaching staff will be hosting a workshop offering tips on spare shooting. The class will talk about strategies for going after those pesky corner pins, making minor adjustments to pick up other common spares (and strikes!), and what to do when faced with nasty splits.

The workshop is free for anyone who bowls in a league at College Lanes and $5 for everyone else.

Have you checked out our website lately? We have added several nifty features over the summer. You can sign-up to receive our open bowling hours via e-mail or through an RSS reader on the Hours page. If you use the site Twitter, you can keep track of our daily updates by adding “collegelanes” to your friends list (our Twitters show up on our homepage, too!). We have also added a “Coaching” page with information about workshops, bumper bowling, and setting up a lesson.

New College Lanes Staff

It is a new school year and that means new student staff members have joined the College Lanes family. Our new lane attendants are Tim Krumreig, Ra’Mar Leach, Andy McLaughlin, Shani Ofrat, and Shaq Tisdell. Ben Kagan-Guthrie is rejoining us after studying abroad. David Wharton and Quentin Rodriguez are our new maintenance assistants. Our new Pool Room coordinator is Zach Richard. Amanda Turley has joined our office staff. Be sure to say “Hi!” as they provide you with stellar customer service!

PBA Experience

The Singles Shootout is happening again at College Lanes this season with a brand new format. Now bowlers can learn how to bowl on Chameleon, Cheetah, Scorpion, Shark, and Viper in five-week blocks. Although the league is a singles competition, we’ve introduced a team play element where teams are formed each week -- a teammate one week could be an opponent the next week! We have also added a prize fund to the mix that will pay out at the end of each block (cash for adult bowlers, scholarships for youth).

The Shootout begins Wednesday, September 10 at 7pm! Hope to see you there!
