Leagues Always Need Bowlers
Are you still looking for a league to bowl in? Are you ready to give league
bowling a shot? All of our leagues are still looking for regular bowlers
and substitutes to round out rosters.
Many of our lane attendants bowl in the various leagues and
can give you first hand knowledge and answer questions you might have.
If you would like to sign
up, talk to the lane attendant or show up at the league’s starting
time.
Juniors Highlights
Our Juniors leagues got off to a smashing start at the end
of last month. Our brand new Thursday Junior Doubles league has eager new
bowlers learning bowling techniques alongside veteran bowlers looking for
extra practice. We still have space for any new youth bowlers interested
in joining.
Our Friday Juniors league got off to an exciting start when Griffin Sabelli
got the first 9 strikes of the third game. Sadly, a 9 count in the tenth
kept his score at 267 - a personal best. In fact, it was the best score
for male bowlers this month!
Crimson and Gold on the Road
The Oberlin College Intercollegiate Bowling Team had its
first conference meet on Saturday, September 29th in Pittsburgh. Two squads,
Crimson and Gold, represented the school. Though faced with tough rivals,
including the two-time defending national champions Saginaw Valley, both
teams found successes along the way. The Crimson Team had one team game
where 4 of the 5 bowlers had a score of 195 or better and they almost defeated
Saginaw’s D team in their match-up. The Gold team, which featured
a number of new bowlers, also earned a few notches in the win column.
The Bakers portion proved to be especially challenging, but both teams
worked together to maximize their scores. In the final game for Crimson,
the team pulled together and bowled a 223 game against University of Cincinnati
C, the high game of the day for Oberlin. This allowed Crimson to maintain
their standings position ahead of Cincy C. The Gold team also had a rough
go, but finished the day sweeping OU-Chillicothe.
The team’s next tournaments are November 3rd at Freeway Lanes in
Wickliffe and November 10-11 at Beaver-Vu Lanes in suburban Dayton.
