-- Oberlin's women's tennis team recently competed in two fall matches to kick off the 2007-2008 season. The Yeowomen traveled to Gambier, Ohio on September. 8-9 for the Kenyon College Invitational and to DePauw University on September 21-23 for the Wilson/ITA Regional Championships. Both matches counted towards the Yeowomen's individual results for the 2008 season, but there was no team scoring in the events.
Senior Kim Glynn led Oberlin at Kenyon and at DePauw by putting together a total record of 4-2. At the Kenyon Invite, she made it all the way to the semifinals after winning her round of 16 and quarterfinal matches. In the semifinals, Glynn was defeated by Denison's Kristin Cobb, 4-6, 7-5, 8-10. At the ITA Regionals, Glynn won two matches and then lost in the round of 16 to Chicago's M. Lin, 6-4, 1-6, 0-6. Also earning victories at the ITA's were juniors Elle Anzinger and Kelly Sipp and first-year Mart Robertson.
At the Kenyon Invite, the doubles teams of Anzinger/Sipp and Robertson/Lara Nagle earned victories. Anzinger and Sipp defeated Kenyon's Kidder and Marino, 8-3, while Robertson and Nagle downed Kenyon's Ivanhoff and Boucher, 8-3.
Oberlin and new Head Coach Constantine Ananiadis will return to action in the spring.
