Women’s Tennis Rolls Past Earlham, 6-3

The Oberlin College women’s tennis team had no trouble handling conference foe Earlham on Saturday afternoon as the Yeowomen were victorious by a 6-3 count.

Seniors Kimiko Glynn and Jackie Golden got things going with an 8-2 win over Elizabeth Byrd and Kate Unver in the No. 1 doubles meeting.

Oliva Hayden and Kelly Sipp followed suite at No. 2 as they topped Rachel Hawkins and Claire Rivron 8-3.

In singles play, Glynn breezed by Hawkins in straight sets – winning each set by a 6-1 count.

In the most closely played match of the day, Sipp was able to outlast Rebecca Ogle 6-2, 1-6 and 13-11 in the super tiebreak at the No. 4 position.

Sarah Teitelbaum also had a highly-competitive dual against Nora Mineva, but Teitelbaum was able to come out on the right side of a 7-5, 6-4 decision in the No. 5 slot.

Jane Hayden completed the winning for the Yeowomen at No. 6 with a 6-2, 6-4 win over Miriam Holzman-Lipsi.
