Kimiko Glynn l Jackie Golden l Chris Pray
May 13 – Oberlin College tennis players Chris Pray, Kimiko Glynn, and Jackie Golden were each recognized by the North Coast Athletic Conference for their tremendous efforts on the court the this season.
For the third time in her career, Glynn was named to the NCAC first-team. The West Des Moines, Iowa native had an outstanding senior campaign finishing a perfect 7-0 in conference play, including a victory over Denison’s Megan Damico, who was named NCAC Player of the Year.
Glynn ended the season on a six-match winning streak to finish 13-6 in dual matches at the No. 1 position. In 2005 she was named NCAC Player and Newcomer of the Year before earning first-team honors as a sophomore the following year. She ended her senior season ranked 18th in the Central Region.
Glynn partnered with fellow senior Jackie Golden to earn second-team honors as a doubles pair. The tandem finished 6-4 at No. 1 and played a large role in helping Oberlin finish in third place in the NCAC.
Golden also received honorable-mention accolades after having a strong season at No. 2 for the Yeowomen.
On the men’s side, senior Chris Pray was named to the All-NCAC first-team for the third-straight season after being named as a second-team selection as a freshman.
Pray registered 12 dual-match victories at No. 1, including a 5-1 mark against NCAC foes. His efforts helped the Yeomen earn eight wins, including three against league members.
Both the men’s and women’s tennis teams will begin competition this fall. |
