women's tennis squad improved to 2-1 overall by defeating
Ashland University this evening, 6-3. With the loss,
the NCAA Division II Eagles fell to 5-9 on the year.
Four Yeowomen earned wins in singles action
tonight, while the hosts won two out of three in doubles
action. Bianca Barr, the lone senior on Oberlin's roster,
led the way by downing Kate Goudy in first singles, 7-6
(7-2), 6-2, and teaming up with junior Jackie Golden
to best Goudy and Megan Stoll in number one doubles,
9-8 (7-4). Sophomore sisters Olivia and Jane Hayden joined
forces to topple Ashland's Christa Halicki and Heather
Preston in third doubles, 8-4.
Other singles winners for the Yeowomen
included Olivia Hayden and fellow sophomores Kelly Sipp and
Lara Nagle.
Oberlin will host Tiffin University on
Saturday, March 3, at 10:00 a.m. for its next match.
