-- The Oberlin women's tennis team kicked off its 2007 season this evening by hosting non-conference foe Baldwin-Wallace College. The Yellow Jackets won number one through number four singles and claimed a pair of doubles wins to defeat Oberlin, 6-3.
Sophomore Olivia Hayden was the standout performer for the Yeowomen, as she won in fifth singles over Andie Essig, 6-1, 6-2. She also teamed up with twin sister Jane to defeat Essig and Krista Marshall in third doubles, 8-3.
Oberlin's other win today came from sophomore Kelly Sipp, who downed Katy Wilson, 6-0, 6-1, in number six singles action.
The Yeowomen fall to 0-1 on the young season, while Baldwin-Wallace improves to 1-0.
Oberlin will return to the courts on February 24 when it hosts Otterbein College for a 1:00 p.m. non-conference match.
