October 16, 2007 -- Kenyon College
visited Oberlin this afternoon for a North Coast Athletic
Conference women's soccer contest at the recently dedicated
Fred Shults Field. The Yeowomen fought the Kenyon Ladies
tough throughout the match, but the visitors came away
with a 2-0 victory. With the loss, Oberlin slipped
to 2-10-1 overall and 0-5-0 in the NCAC. Kenyon improved
to 7-5-2 (3-2-1) with the win.
The Yeowomen's offense had as many as opportunities
to score as Kenyon - both teams had seven shots in
the contest; however, the Ladies scored off an indirect
kick 25:35 into the game and then again with 2:25 left
in the game courtesy of a nice cross from Flora Horvath
to Amy Kessler. Kenyon had an 8-3 advantage in corner
kicks and had nine fouls to Oberlin's six.
Goalkeeper Christie Zelnik saved two shots in 90 minutes
of action for Oberlin, while Kenyon's Rosie Davis saved
two shots en route to earning the shutout victory.
For its next game, Oberlin will host Allegheny College
on October 18 at 3:30 p.m.
