Immerman's Overtime Goal Leads Oberlin Women's Soccer Past Hiram, 1-0

October 24, 2007 -- Lois Immerman scored a goal just 1:14 into overtime today as the Oberlin women's soccer team defeated host Hiram College, 1-0. With the victory, the Yeowomen snapped an 11-game losing streak and claimed their first North Coast Athletic Conference victory of the 2007 season. Oberlin improved its record to 3-12-1 overall and 1-7-0 in the NCAC. The Terriers slipped to 8-10-0 overall (0-7-0 NCAC) with the loss.

Hiram out-shot Oberlin, 14-11, but great defensive play along with eight saves in goal between Leslie Mills and Christie Zelnik allowed the Yeowomen's offense to wait for its chance to strike. Immerman led Oberlin with four shots on the day. Kate Berry-Millett added an assist on the overtime game-winner.

The Terriers were led in the defeat by Claire Conner, who had a game-high seven shots, and goalkeeper Emily Brostol, who had seven saves in 91:14 of action.

Oberlin will conclude its season on Saturday when it hosts SUNY-Fredonia for a 2:30 p.m. non-conference matchup. The contest will mark the final men's or women's soccer contest of the 2007 season at the newly constructed Fred Shults Field.
