October 11, 2006 -- The Oberlin College women’s soccer team lost a tough 0-3 NCAC match against The College of Wooster this afternoon. The loss prolonged the Yeowomen’s losing streak to five games as their record falls to 4-8-1 (0-3 NCAC), while the Scots improve to 10-3-1 (3-0-1).

Wooster came into the match not having lost in five games and played like a talented and confident team. The Scots pulled out to an early lead with a goal in the 12th minute by first-year Chantal Koechli. Five minutes later, Wooster would find the back of the net again with a goal from senior Erin Lustic, her seventh goal of the season. In the second half, the Scots would add to their lead with a goal in the 50th minute on a powerful outside shot from sophomore Letitia Clark.

The Yeowomen were able to create some scoring opportunities themselves, but failed to convert on their 10 shots. Wooster’s sophomore goalkeeper Staci Alario had five saves to preserve the shutout. Oberlin’s first-year goalkeeper Sarah Grabinski played a strong game in goal, making four saves and allowing just one goal.

Oberlin will look to rebound from the loss and get back into the win column in a home non-conference match-up against Notre Dame College on October 14 at 12:00 p.m.
