Women's Soccer Beats Notre Dame, 4-2

October 14, 2006 -- Head Coach Andy Nelson's Oberlin women's soccer team cruised to a 4-2 non-conference victory this afternoon against the College of Notre Dame. Led by first-year Kate Berry-Millett's two goals and senior Sam Schongalla's two assists, the Yeowomen improved to 5-8-1 on the season. Notre Dame slipped to 8-5 with the loss.

Berry-Millett got Oberlin onto the board early today, scoring a goal on a free kick 13 minutes into the contest. Notre Dame's Caley Prendergast responded with two goals late in the first half, though, to give the visitors a 2-1 lead at the half.

Oberlin dominated in the second half, out-scoring the Falcons 3-0 en route to the 4-2 win. Berry-Millett scored her second goal of the game one minute into the second half and sophomore Caitlin Millford provided the game-winner off an assist from Schongalla 61 minutes into the game. Senior co-captain Mei-Lin Ha provided an insurance goal for the Yeowomen on a header that was also assisted by Schongalla.

The Yeowomen out-shot Notre Dame 13-10 and both teams had four corner kicks on the day. First-year goalkeeper Sarah Grabinski had three saves to earn the win.

Oberlin will look to keep its winning ways alive by traveling to Allegheny College (Pa.) on October 17 for a 7:30 p.m. North Coast Athletic Conference showdown.
