Final Stats
April 10 – Despite four goals and two assists from Taylor Fey, the Oberlin College women’s lacrosse team could not keep up the offensive pressure in the second half as they fell to The College of Wooster, 26-6, on Thursday afternoon.
From the opening draw, Fey got the Yeowomen off on the right foot as she scored the game’s first goal just a minute and half in, and added two more within the first 10 minutes to keep Oberlin close as they trailed just 5-3 at the 20:47 mark of the first half.
However, Wooster ripped off eight-straight goals - scoring 10 of the final 12 points of the half to claim a 15-5 lead at the break. Oberlin’s (2-7, 0-3 NCAC) other two goals of the frame came from Scarlett Prati and Beth Gula as they were each assisted by Fey.
Fey added Oberlin’s final goal on a free position attempt with 8:22 left to play. OC triggered 21 shots in the game; however, just six of those came in the second half. The Scots and Yeowomen were closely matched in the hustle categories as Wooster claimed a slim 15-12 edge in ground balls and a 14-10 advantage in draw controls.
The Yeowomen will look to bounce back on Saturday at 2 p.m. when they play host to Allegheny College.
