Oberlin 22 – Pacific 20
March 24 – First-year sensation Taylor Fey had 10 goals, and sophomore Scarlett Prati added six of her own to guide the Oberlin College women’s lacrosse team to a 22-20 victory over Pacific University on Monday night.
“It felt really good to get our first win tonight,” head coach Deb Ranieri said. “The game was very exciting, and I am proud of the way we were able to pull through at the end.”
After falling behind in the very early going, the Yeowomen (1-2) took control of the game the rest of the way. OC held a 10-7 lead at the break, but the Boxers didn’t go away quietly as they tied the game at 19 with just over three minutes to go.
However, Fey would not let the win slip away she scored three-straight goals in the final minutes to secure the win for Oberlin. The first-year from Raymond, Maine (Hebron Academy) scored nine times in the run of play and once off of an eight-meter attempt.
Beth Gula, Dana Rich, and Kaitlin Barrer also added two goals apiece for Oberlin. Kira Rivera controlled the cage in the first half – tallying five saves, while Barrer took over in the second session – registering four saves.
The Yeowomen will spend tomorrow practicing in preparation for Wednesday’s game against Linfield College.
