Oberlin Falls to Marymount, 20-9

Final Stats

March 15 –
In front of a large alumni-based crowd, the Oberlin College women’s lacrosse team fought hard, but could not overcome a great goaltending performance by Marymount in a 20-9 defeat.

Kaitlin Barrer led Oberlin with three goals, with two coming off of 8-meter attempts. Beth Gula and Scarlet Prati added two goals apiece.

“We had great effort today,” head coach Deb Ranieri said. “The girls played really hard and we had solid mid-field play.  Dana (Rich) also did a nice job of stepping into goal. I liked the continued hustle as this team always gives their best.”

Rich, making her first-ever appearance in the cage, recorded 11 saves on 31 shots.

Oberlin trailed 12-5 at the break, but after a free-position goal by Barrer in the first minute of the second half, the Yeowomen (0-2) went scoreless for a 12-minute span – allowing the Tomcats to pull away for the win.

Tomcat cage dweller, Elizabeth Hulfish tallied 18 saves on 27 OC shots on goal during the afternoon.

Oberlin will back in action on March 24 against Pacific University in Portland, Ore. in game one of it's three-game spring break trip. The action will get underway at 4 p.m. PST.
