Despite Hull's Four Consecutive Goals, Yeowomen Fall to Ohio Wesleyan, 9-24

April 24, 2007 -- Lela Hull scored her team-leading 43rd goal of the season, but it wasn't quite enough to lift the Oberlin women's lacrosse team past Ohio Wesleyan University this afternoon. The Battling Bishops out-scored the Yeowomen 24-9 to earn the North Coast Athletic Conference win and improve to 10-2 (5-1 NCAC) on the year. Oberlin fell to 6-6 overall and 1-4 in league play with the defeat.

Ohio Wesleyan got off to a hot start today, scoring the first nine goals of the game. Sophomore attacker Lela Hull countered by scoring her team's first four goals of the contest, but a 5-13 halftime deficit was too much for Oberlin to overcome as the hosts cruised to the 15-goal victory.

Hull added three draw controls and three ground balls to her team-high four scores, while Kaitlin Barrer added three goals and three draws. Goalkeeper Kira Thorien saved 10 shots and scooped up a team-best four ground balls.

The Yeowomen will return to action on April 28 when the University of Redlands visits Oberlin for a 2:00 p.m. non-conference contest.
