The Oberlin women's lacrosse team opened up its 2007
season this evening by traveling to Euclid, Ohio to
face NAIA opponent the College of Notre Dame. Seven
different Yeowomen scored goals under the lights against
the Falcons, but the hosts were able to come away with
a 19-7 non-conference victory. Notre Dame improved
to 4-2 with the win.
Oberlin was out-shot in the contest 14-32, but did
manage to win the draw control advantage 15-11 and
tie the Falcons with 21 ground balls. In 60 minutes
of action in goal, junior Kira Thorien registered
13 saves, four ground balls, and one caused turnover.
Scoring goals for the Yeowomen were first-years Caroline
Walsh (free-position goal), Julie Doyle, and Emma Edmondson,
sophomores Lela Hull, Dana Rich, and Faye Hipsman,
and junior Elizabeth Gula.
Also contributing for Oberlin was sophomore Grace
Eginton, who scooped up a team-high five ground balls.
Gula and Hall won six and five draws, respectively.
Oberlin's next game will be during spring break at
the University of Dallas. The Yeowomen will face Fontbonne
