Pioneers Top Yeowomen

January 2 -- Four players scored in double figures to propel Marietta College to an 80-54 victory over Oberlin College Wednesday night in women's basketball.

Junior guard Amanda Carraher connected on six three-pointers for the second consecutive game to lead a lights-out shooting night for the Pioneers. Marietta hit 11 of 21 attempts from behind the arc and shot an even 50% for the game.

Oberlin was paced by 16 points and eight rebounds from senior Roneisha Kinney. Junior Alyssa Clark and sophomore Liz Thompson added 10 points apiece.

"We have been working on some things we were able to do tonight," Oberlin Head Coach Christa Champion said, "but we are not quite there yet. We played with a lot of heart, and we are almost ready to play at a successful level."

The loss drops Oberlin to 1-8 overall, while Marietta improves to 3-7. The Yeowomen host Kenyon College this Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
