December 11 -- La Roche College used a 12-0 second half run to secure a 52-41 victory over Oberlin College Tuesday night in women's basketball.
Oberlin went scoreless for 4:39 after junior Alyssa Clark hit a layup to open the second half. Five different La Roche players scored during that time frame as the Red Hawks raced to a 28-19 lead.
The Yeowomen, who built a 17-16 advantage through the first 20 minutes of play, could not capitalize on a sub-par shooting performance by the Red Hawks. Neither team was particularly sharp from the field. Oberlin sank 30.4% of its field goals, while La Roche hit on 27.4% of its shots.
First-year guard Katie Thompson netted 11 points to pace Oberlin's scorers. Senior Roneisha Kinney snagged 14 rebounds and chipped in six points. La Roche was led by 20 points from Marlis Graves.
Oberlin dips to 1-6 overall. The Yeowomen compete in their final contest of the month this Saturday at Bluffton University. Tipoff is set for 8:00 p.m.
