December 8 -- Earlham College used a big second half to secure a 76-54 win over visiting Oberlin College Saturday in women's basketball.
Oberlin took a 26-22 lead into the locker room thanks to stout defensive play and an eight-point performance from senior Roneisha Kinney. The Quakers fired back, however, reeling off 54 points in the final 20 minutes to build a comfortable advantage.
"We played a great first half," Oberlin Head Coach Christa Champion said, "but we lost focus defensively in the second half. They started hitting outside shots, and we responded by losing our defensive intensity."
Kinney finished with 15 points to lead Oberlin scorers. Sophomore Liz Thompson, in just her second game back from injury, notched 13 points and grabbed nine rebounds in just 25 minutes. The Quakers put four players in double figures, led by 20 points from Shontavia Davis.
Oberlin falls to 1-5 overall and 0-2 in the NCAC. The Yeowomen are back in action on Tuesday when they host La Roche College. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m.
