January 30 – Nothing went right for the Oberlin College Yeowomen as they fell to Ohio Wesleyan 86-35 in North Coast Athletic Conference action on Wednesday night.
OWU (12-5, 7-2 NCAC) took advantage of nine OC turnovers within in the first eight minutes to build a 22-4 lead and never looked backed as it cruised to the win.
Alicia Smith was the only Yeowoman in double-figures – checking in with 10 points as she finished 3-of-6 from long range.
“Sometimes in the game of basketball you will have nights when nothing goes right and tonight was our night,” head coach Christa Champion said.
The Battling Bishops connected on 49.3 percent (29-of-59) of their shots in the game, while Oberlin (3-15, 2-7 NCAC) was limited to just 23.7 percent (14-of-59).
The Yeowomen will try to regroup on Saturday afternoon when Earlham College invades Philips Gym at 3 p.m. Following the game, the Yeomen will clash with Earlham at 5 p.m.
