February 22 – The Oberlin College women’s basketball team and head coach Christa Champion would like to send a special thank you to the wonderful people of the “Kendal at Oberlin” retirement community.
During the season, the Oberlin women's basketball developed a special relationship with some folks from the “Kendal at Oberlin”, a retirement community located nearby the College. Back in October, the Yeowomen visited Kendal to share lunch with some of the residents, and to swap stories about growing up as female athletes with some of the ladies who played pre-Title IX sports, "back in the day."
In early January, the team hosted a "Kendal Night" in which a large and vocal group of several dozen “Kendal-ites” cheered the Yeowomen on during their game against Kenyon College. These new fans enjoyed themselves so much that night that they attended all of Oberlin’s home games for the remainder of the season – showing their support for Yeowomen basketball.
The College and its athletics department, along with the entire women’s basketball team would like to send a sincere thank you to all the great folks at Kendal for their continued support.
