Carey Cavanaugh began her tenure as the head coach of volleyball at Oberlin College in 2005. A former Division I player with multiple levels of coaching experience, she brings a broad knowledge of volleyball and an understanding of player development to the Yeowomen squad.

Cavanaugh demonstrated her talent in leading the Yeowomen in 2005. Her guidance resulted in triple the number of wins from 2004. Senior captain Katie Au recorded 357 digs on her way to honorable mention All-Conference honors. Most importantly, the team raised their expectations for success, undoubtedly leading to greater competitive outcomes.

Prior to her arrival at Oberlin, Cavanaugh spent three seasons as an assistant coach for Kent State University. While with the Golden Flashes, she worked with the team’s setters, assisting with their tactical and technical development while also implementing offensive and defensive game plans. Cavanaugh managed team travel, scheduling, and academic advisement; assisted with recruiting; and organized Kent State’s summer volleyball camps.

A 2002 graduate of East Tennessee State University, Cavanaugh earned a bachelor’s degree in sport management as a member of the Dean’s list. She captained the Buccaneers for three seasons and was named to the All-Southern Conference team three times. She was the 2001 Southern Conference Player of Year and the East Tennessee State Athlete of the Year in 2001-2002.

Eric Stark began his first season as an assistant coach for the Oberlin volleyball program in the summer of 2007. A 2007 graduate of Division I Bradley University, Stark served as the volleyball team’s manager. During his four years as the squad’s manager, Stark assisted with practices, prepared scouting reports, and coordinated the team’s player development program.

During his time at Bradley, Stark also worked as a camp counselor for the school’s summer volleyball camps. Additionally, he served as the Bradley men’s soccer team’s player development/digital analysis consultant. He is also Cap 1 Certified.
