-- Head Coach Carey Cavanaugh's Oberlin volleyball team hosted The College of Wooster tonight for a North Coast Athletic Conference match at Philips Gymnasium. After losing the first two games, Oberlin rebounded with a win in the third, but the Fighting Scots rallied back for a decisive win in game four.
Wooster got off to a hot start in game and never looked back, claiming a 30-18 victory. In game two, the result turned out about the same, with a 30-17 Wooster win, but first-year Amanda Wysk had a tremendous game for the Yeowomen. She had a wealth of kills and continued to stay hot in the third frame, leading Oberlin to a 30-23 win. The fourth game was closely contested by Oberlin for most of the way, but a late rally by the Fighting Scots gave the visitors a 30-21 victory.
Wysk, who has been solid throughout the 2007 campaign, had an amazing match tonight as she racked up 19 kills and 20 digs. First-year Anna Frackman also had a strong performance, amassing 11 kills, while senior Deysi Villarreal had four kills, 33 assists, and two block assists.
Wooster was led in the win by senior Erin Wright, who had 15 kills, one block solo, and four block assists.
Oberlin will look to get back into the win column on Friday night when it hosts Ohio Wesleyan University at 7:00 p.m. |
