-- After an outstanding effort in its home opener just two days ago, the Oberlin volleyball team faced Allegheny College for the second straight match this evening at the Westminster College Invitational. The Yeowomen got off to a hot start, rolling to 30-26 and 31-29 wins in the first two games against the Gators. Oberlin was edged in the last three games, though, dropping the contest, 2-3. In the nightcap, Penn State Behrend swept Oberlin, 3-0 (32-30, 30-19, 30-19).
First-years Maggie Jacobson and Melissa DeLombaert led the Yeowomen in the excellent team effort against Allegheny. Jacobson and DeLombaert both racked up three blocks and had a number of other quality touches throughout the match. Classmate Anna Frackman had a career day against the Gators, tallying 18 kills on 49 attempts.
The Yeowomen will waste little time returning to action as they will square off against Westminster tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. They will finish off the tournament later in the day with a match against The College of Wooster at 2:00 p.m. |
