-- Looking to earn its second North Coast Athletic Conference victory of the season, the Oberlin volleyball team hosted Earlham College today for an afternoon match at Philips Gymnasium. The Yeowomen won the second game of the match and threatened in two of the others, but the Quakers were able to leave Oberlin with a 3-1 league win. Oberlin is now 3-9 overall and 1-3 in the NCAC after the loss, while Earlham evened its record to 7-7 overall and 1-1 in conference competition.
Despite the defeat, there were quite a few standout performances for Oberlin today. Senior Deysi Villarreal was all over the court, racking up six kills, 24 assists, an ace, 21 digs, three block solos, and three block assists. First-year Amanda Wysk led all Yeowomen with 13 kills.
First-year Maggie Jacobson had the best attack percentage for Oberlin, as she tallied 11 kills on just 27 opportunities (.333). Libero Tammela Platt and setter Rita Kaplon both had 25 digs on the day.
Oberlin will have a few days to make adjustments and prepare for The College of Wooster on September 26. The Fighting Scots will visit Philips Gym at 7:00 p.m.
