Despite Amanda Wysk's 23 Kills, Volleyball Falls to Denison, 1-3

October 2, 2007 -- Host Denison University defeated Oberlin this evening in North Coast Athletic Conference volleyball action, 3-1. The Yeowomen got off to a hot start in the league match, but the Big Red rallied for three straight wins to claim the victory. With the win, Denison improves to 9-6 overall and 3-2 in league play, while the Yeowomen fall to 3-12 (0-6 NCAC).

Oberlin started off strong tonight by winning the first game, 31-20. Denison then responded with a 30-25 victory in game two. In game three, the Yeowomen led 29-26, but the Big Red withstood five game points en route to a 34-32 win. Denison took avantage of its positive momentum from the third frame into game four to eventually earn the 3-1 win.

First-year Amanda Wysk, Oberlin's leader in kills on the year, had her strongest night of the season by accumulating 23 kills on 57 attempts for a .263 hitting percentage. The Yeowomen had 13 aces in the match.

Denison was led in the win by senior Kelsy Bruce, who had 11 kills.

Oberlin will voyage to Meadville, Pa., on October 5 to face NCAC rival Allegheny College at 7:00 p.m.
