-- The Oberlin volleyball team's trip to Ohio Wesleyan was spoiled this afternoon by the host Battling Bishops and neutral opponent, Marietta College. Ohio Wesleyan defeated the Yeowomen in three games (30-9, 30-18, 30-17), while Marietta also topped Oberlin 3-0 (30-15, 30-25, 30-17). With the pair of losses, Oberlin's record falls to 3-13 overall and 0-8 in North Coast Athletic Conference competition.
Oberlin was led today by junior setter Deysi Villarreal, who tallied 23 assists, seven kills, and two block assists in the two matches. First-year setter Rita Kaplon also had six kills, nine assists, and three block assists this afternoon.
The Yeowomen will take a break from competition until October 8, when they travel to Lake Erie College for a tri-match slated to begin at 3:00 p.m. Oberlin has already defeated Lake Erie twice this season, with both matches ending in a 3-0 shutout by the Yeowomen.
