September 2, 2006 -- The Oberlin volleyball team competed in day two of the Ohio Wesleyan Tournament this afternoon and came away with one win and one loss. In the opener, the Yeowomen fell to Wilmington, 0-3, but Head Coach Carey Cavanaugh's squad bounced back in the second match of the day to defeat Lake Erie College, 3-0. With the split, Oberlin's record now stands at 2-2.

Against Lake Erie, the Yeowomen took control from the beginning and maintained their momentum throughout the three games. Oberlin tallied 37 kills in the three games against the Storm. Against Wilmington, the Yeowomen racked up 76 digs and nine aces.

"I'm proud of the team and all that they accomplished in the preseason," Cavanaugh said. "Much of this hard work was incorporated well in our first tournament."

Oberlin will return to action on September 12 when it hosts Wooster at 7:00 p.m.
