March 29 -Oberlin College men's and women's track and field teams concluded day two of the Bayou Classic on the Rice University campus Saturday eveing.
Another tough day of competition against a field comprised primarily of Division I institutions saw the Yeomen and Yeowomen turn in some fine performances.
Senior, Deysi Villarreal tied the school record in the women’s pole vault. Villarreal set the record earlier this season and today matched her best effort of 10-00. Fellow senior Anna Chernin stopped the clock in 59.58 in one lap around the track in the women’s 400-meter dash.
Solomon Turner competed well on day two of the Bayou Classic turning in fine efforts in the men’s 200-meter and 400-meter dashes. The Yeomen sprinter stopped the clock in 23.62 and 52.05 respectively.
The men’s discus competition saw Josh Gallagher toss 133-04 posting another good early season mark.
The men's 4-x-400-meter relay squad of Cody Hartley, Turner, Peter Morris and Seth Wimberly combined for a time of 3:28.80.
The track and field teams return to Oberlin where they will have a week to prepare for the Marv Frye Invitational to be run at Ohio Wesleyan University April 5 at 10:00 a.m.
