April 18, 2007 -- Head Coach Ray Appenheimer's men's and women's outdoor track and field team traveled to Delaware, Ohio, this afternoon to compete in the All-Ohio Championships at Ohio Wesleyan University. The Yeowomen ended the meet by placing 10th, while the Yeomen placed 16th.
Two school records were broken today for the women's team, as senior Ariane Burwell broke her own school mark in the steeplechase with a time of 11:27.25. Burwell placed third in the event. Additionally, classmate Barrie Newberger set a new school record in the 1,500-meter run by clocking in at 4:40.45. Newberger placed second out of a field of 16 talented runners and was only a few seconds off from provisionally qualifying for the NCAA Championships.
The Yeomen's top two performances came from John Shaw and Ryan King. Shaw placed third in the 10,000-meter run with a time of 32:38.12, while King placed sixth in the 1,500-meter run with an effort of 4:01.38.
Said Appenheimer, "We put them on a big stage and they performed well against the best competition in the state of Ohio."
