Yeomen and Yeowomen Compete at Baldwin-Wallace Invite and NCAC Combines

April 28, 2007 -- Oberlin's outdoor track and field team competed in a pair of competitions today — Baldwin-Wallace College's Sparky Adams Invitational and the North Coast Athletic Conference Combined Events at Wittenberg University. The meet at B.W. was unscored, while the combined events championship in at Wittenberg was part of a two-day event.

Sophomore Maddy Davis-Hayes led the Oberlin effort this afternoon by setting a new school record in the 5,000-meter run at the Hillsale College Gina Relays with a time of 17:15.7. Her time provisionally qualifies her for the NCAA Championships and is only 15 seconds off from making her an automatic qualifier. The Yeomen's top effort at Baldwin-Wallace came from sophomore Ryan King, who placed sixth in the 800-meter run with a time of 1:57.65.

At the NCAC Combined Events Championships in Springfield, Ohio, the Yeomen's Kyle Taljan and Cory Myers and Yeowomen's Bronwen Davies put in solid efforts in a variety of decathlon and heptathlon events, respectively. All three will return to Springfield for competition tomorrow.
