-- The Oberlin men's and women's swimming and diving teams visited Hiram College this evening for a North Coast Athletic Conference contest. The women's team continued its great start to the year by defeating the Terriers, 121-110. The Yeomen were narrowly defeated by Hiram, 91-114.
First-year Sara Kadi led the Yeowomen with yet another great swim in the 200-meter freestyle. Kadi touched the wall first in a time of 2:12.25. Shannon Gallagher won both the 50- and 100-meter freestyles. Laura Fries also had a great swim in the 200-meter backstroke, handedly winning with a time of 2:31.37. First-year Jenny Meltz also won the 400-meter freestyle with an effort of 4:47.66.
The Yeomen were led again by Scott McInerney, who won the 50-meter free style in a time of 25.33. Cory Myers also won both of the diving competitions for Oberlin.
Said Head Coach Mark Fino, "We had some really great swims tonight, and now we are looking forward to continuing to improve at the Wooster Invite."
