Complete Final Results
January 12 – The Oberlin College women’s swimming diving team recorded 12 victories en route to earning a 176-111 win over Notre Dame College on Saturday afternoon.
“We swam very well again today,” head coach Mark Fino said. “Today’s meet was all about fun as we had many smiles after a very long week of training and competing. The lineup of events today was a little unusual compared to normal, but we adjusted well and were able to get a win.”
Sisters Kiri and Bryne Ulmschneider got the winning started for Oberlin as Kiri posted a mark of 11.21.65 to win 1000-yard free, while Bryne checked in second at 11:49.98. Kiri later returned to win the 200-yard IM after completing the course in 1:07.33.
For the second-straight meet, first-year Sara Kadi recorded three individual victories for the Yeowomen as she took top honors in the 50-yard breast (33.76), 100-yard back (1:03.24), and 500-yard free (5:23.02).
The Yeowomen (4-3) also claimed the top two spots in the 50-yard back as Erin Straight posted a winning-time of 31.53, while Meghan Norcross ended in second with a mark of 32.24.
Diver Christine Martin was victorious off of both the 1-meter and 3-meter boards – tallying 192.75 points off the short board and 214.20 points from up high.
Sophomore Shannon Gallagher and first-year Kelsey Sherman also garnered wins for OC as Gallagher checked in at 25.98 in the 50-yard free, while Sherman completed the 100-yard free in 59.28. Gallagher later returned to take top honors in the 50-yard butterfly with a time of 28.47.
Oberlin ended the meet on a high-note as the relay tandem of Joradan Jancosek, (Kelsey) Sherman, Laura Fries, and (Sara) Kadi completed the 400-yard free relay in 3:55.02 to earn first place.
Oberlin will back in action next Saturday (Jan.19) when it travels to John Carroll for a 1 p.m. dual meet.
