February 16 – First-year sensation Sara Kadi improved on her own school records in both the 100 and 200-yard butterfly events to highlight the final round of preliminaries at the NCAC Championships.
“We had another strong morning,” head coach Mark Fino said. “The women have been so impressive all weekend and our men have really preformed well.”
Kadi touched the wall in 2:11.25 to set the new school-best time in the 200-yard fly, while finishing fifth overall to claim a spot in tonight’s ‘A’ final.
Kadi also improved her chances of qualifying for the NCAA Championships as she enhanced her school-best 100-yard fly time – completing a time trial run in 58.31.
Senior Kiri Ulmschneider continued to shine with a lifetime-best swim of 2:14.93 in the 200-yard fly.
Kiri’s younger sister, Bryne also had strong 200-yard breast as she clocked in a personal-best time of 2:32.60 to finish sixth overall.
Laura Fries also continued to impress as she moved into second on the all-time list with a mark of 2:10.61 in the 200-yard back.
On the men’s side Daniel Holm put together an outstanding effort in the 200-yard breast as he posted a season-best time of 2:18.39.
Corey Spiro (1:58.50) and Scott McInerney (1:59.64) each swam well in the 200-yard fly to earn a spot in tonight’s ‘B’ final.
Jon Vimr also recorded a season-best time of 2:01.66 in the 200-yard back to secure a place in the ‘B’ final.
Final-round action will get underway this afternoon at 3:30 p.m. with early heats of the 1650 free.
