November 1, 2006 -- Head Coach Mark Fino's Oberlin swimming and diving team trekked to nearby Baldwin-Wallace College this afternoon for a non-conference dual meet in Berea, Ohio.
Although Baldwin-Wallace defeated the Yeomen, 164-43, and the Yeowomen, 139-100, Oberlin's swimmers and divers put forth solid efforts in a number of events. For the Yeomen, first-year Daniel Holm and junior Cory Myers led the way in the road dual meet. Holm swam a gutsy 200-yard individual medley race, finishing in third place with a time of 2:14.33. In the 500-yard freestyle, Holm touched the wall in 5:29.37 for another third-place effort. Myers was victorious in the one-meter diving competition with 243.55 points.
The Yeowomen were paced today by Shannon Gallagher's victories in the 50 (26.46) and 100-yard freestyle races (56.54). Kiri Ulmschneider (Jr.) earned a win in the 1,000-yard freestyle (11:26.32) and touched the wall second in the 500-yard free (5:31.72) and 200-yard individual medley (2:20.15).
