Yeowomen Defeated by Wittenberg

Game One Box l Game Two Box

April 19 –
In their third NCAC home doubleheader of the week, it was not to be for the Oberlin College softball team as they were defeated by the Wittenberg Tigers, 21-2 and 10-2, on Saturday afternoon.

Michelle Zanni led the way in game two for Yeowomen as she went 2-for-3 with a two-run homerun and a double. Kate Phillips also racked up her first multi-hit game of the season as she was 2-for-2 at the dish.

Wittenberg (20-10, 6-4 NCAC) jumped out to a 6-0 lead, before Zanni belted her third round-tripper of the season to keep things close. Unfortunately, the Tigers added four runs over the next two innings to put the game out of reach.

In game one the Tigers came out swing as they scored six runs over the first two innings and never looked back. However, Oberlin didn’t give up as Ruth Allanbrook plated Julia Chauvin on a RBI groundout in the fourth and Nella Williams sent Zanni across the plate with a single in the fifth.

Oberlin will be back in action on Tuesday, April 22 when it travels to Concordia College for a 3:30 p.m. twinbill.
