Game One Box l Game Two Box
April 22 – The Oberlin College softball team jumped out to an early lead and used a stellar pitching performance from Michelle Zanni to knockoff the Concordia University Falcons 3-1 to earn their first win of the season.
“Obviously it feels good to get this victory,” head coach Adrienne Davis said. “The girls have been working so hard all year long and they deserve this.”
The Yeowomen plated two runs in their first at-bat of the game as Zanni and Sophie Schact got the offense rolling with singles to score the first run of the game.
Ruth Allanbrook also drew a bases-loaded walk in the first to give Oberlin a 2-0. That slim advantage was all Zanni needed on the on the mound as she kept the Falcons’ offense at bay throughout the entire seven innings.
Schact, who finished 2-for-4 in the game, provided an extra insurance run in the third as she scored on a double by Allanbrook.
In game two of the doubleheader, Oberlin fell 12-3. Julia Chauvin had a double and run scored.
Allanbrook also added another RBI and Jen Sees added a sacrifice fly for the Yeowomen.
Oberlin will host Hiram College on Thursday at 3:30 p.m. in its final home tilt of the season.
