April 15, 2007 -- On a windy and cold
day in Oberlin, visiting Ohio Wesleyan University won
both games of a doubleheader at Mary Culhane Field, 10-2
and 9-6. The Yeowomen's record slipped to 1-17 overall
and 0-6 in league play, while the Battling Bishops improved
to 11-9 and 4-2 in the NCAC.
First-years Lauren Luther and Julia Chauvin continued
to lead Oberlin offensively this season by combining
for six hits and six runs batted in. Luther went 3-6
with three RBI's, a double and a stolen base to improve
her team-best batting average to .381. Chauvin, who is
first on the team in home runs (two) and RBI's (11) and
is hitting at a .319 clip, went 3-5 with three RBI's,
a double, two runs scored, and a stolen base.
Ohio Wesleyan was paced by infielder Emily Bradley,
who went 5-8 with a home runs, double, four runs batted
in, and four runs scored.
Oberlin will return to competition on April 18 for an
NCAC doubleheader at Wooster (3:30 p.m.).
