April 22, 2007 -- Looking to pick up their first North Coast Athletic Conference wins of the 2007 season, the Yeowomen traveled to Hiram this afternoon for a softball doubleheader. The host Terriers were able to keep Oberlin's offense in check, though, as they claimed victories of 6-0 and 9-1 to improve to 17-9 overall and 7-3 in league play. The Yeowomen slipped to 1-23 (0-12) with the defeats.
Junior infielder Spencer McCaffrey led Oberlin at the plate today, going a combined 3-6 with a double in the two games. In game two of the twinbill, sophomore pitcher Michelle Zanni had one of her stronger outings of the year, throwing three innings of relief for five hits and no earned runs. Hiram was paced in the doubleheader by sophomore Megan Samuel, who went 6-8 with three runs scored and a stolen base.
Oberlin will look to get back into the win column tomorrow afternoon by traveling to Cuyahoga Community College for a 3:30 p.m. doubleheader.
