October 3, 2007 -- The Oberlin College men's tennis team voyaged to Kalamazoo College this past weekend to compete in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA)'s Central Regional Championships. There were no team scores for the event, but the Yeomen combined for a 10-5 record in singles competition and also won a match in doubles play.
Senior Tom Page and first-year Peter Meckel both went 3-1 in singles competition. They both lost their first match in the main draw, but rallied back for three straight wins in the consolation bracket. Senior standout Chris Pray went 2-1 in the main draw, while David Milder finished the tournament with a 2-2 record in singles play.
In doubles competition, the team of sophomore Ben Godlove and first-year Leo Sprinzen went 1-1, while seniors Colin Burling and Pray were defeated in their only match.
The ITA Championships mark a good beginning to the Yeomen's individual totals, as their records will carry over into the spring season.
