March 15 – The Oberlin College men’s tennis team handled Washington and Jefferson College on Saturday morning in the John W. Heisman Field House defeating the Presidents 8-1.
The Yeomen won in convincing style this morning winning five of six singles matches and all three battles at doubles.
In the No. 4 and No. 5 singles spots Leo Sprinzen and Ben Godlove each earned 6-0, 6-0 victories over the Presidents' David Dubois and Erik Sillard. Head coach Adam Shoemaker was quick to say, “they both played good, smart tennis matches today in not allowing their opponents to take a single game”. Godlove is looking to carry a three match singles winning streak into spring break.
In doubles action the No. 1 pairing of Chris Pray and Ezra Goldman earned an 8-0 victory over Chris Faulk and Jeff Tomaino. At the No. 3 doubles position Tom Page and Ben Godlove also made short work of Washington and Jefferson’s duo of Erik Sillard and Matt Varacallo, 8-1.
The win moves the Yeomen to 5-3 on the season and it is their second win in a row at home. The team travels to Hilton Head, S.C. for Spring Break action where they will meet Carleton College on March 24.
