Yeomen Blanked by DePauw and Calvin

Complete Results vs. DePauw

Complete Results vs. Calvin

April 12 – After upsetting regionally-ranked Albion on Friday, the Oberlin College men’s tennis ran into even stiffer competition at the GLCA Tournament, falling to the No. 12 team in the nation, DePauw, 7-0 late Friday night and dropping 5-0 decision to No. 30 Calvin 5-0 on Saturday.

“This was a good test for us to see where we stand against premiere competition,” head coach Adam Shoemaker said. “I like playing teams of high caliber as it only makes us better as a team.”

Against DePauw, senior Chris Pray was nearly victorious in the No. 1 position as he took the sixth-ranked player in the region Kortney Keith to brink before eventually falling 6-2, 4-6, 10-7.

Against Calvin the Yeomen could not really get into a rhythm as four matches went unfinished. Oberlin lost all three doubles duals and that is all Calvin needed to do to control the shortened match.

Oberlin will look to bounce back on Monday when it travels to Denison for a 4:30 p.m. match.
